I've tried using tubing to hold the treble in line with the toby but it has always split because of the taper of the rear end of the lure. never tried the front attachment like that tho. - interesting and something to try again. Tobys are good for charr and we have had an occasional good trout and pike on them also. They always had a reputation amongst the salmon anglers as being good lures but poor at hooking. I always add another split ring at the hook end and that seems to help a lot. Also we always use wire traces if fishing shallower than about 30 feet 'cos of the pike. Mind, we once had a pike on the d'rigger at 50' so you can't be too careful!

I take it you have no intentions of releasing the fish you catch? Two trebles so close together has the potential to create a right mess?

Straighten the back of the toby with a grinder so you can get thetubing to stay on .,
