Here is another fly pattern - step by step

VOLCANO (Duncan Egan)

Hook - Salar 5 - 11
Thread - Black
Tail - Yellow SLF or Lite-Brite Hank
Body - Silver Holographic Tinsel
Rib - Fine Red Wire
Under Wing - Yellow under Orange bucktail ,pearl Krystal Flash on top
Top Wing - as above
Eyes - Jungle Cock
Head - Black

Wind black thread down shank of hook

Tie in yellow SLF or Lite Brite hank as tail

Tie in Silver holographic tinsel and red wire

Form tag and rib with red wire

Turn hook upside down. Yellow under orange bucktail with Krystal flash on top. Tie to just below bend of hook.

Turn Hook back over and tie in top wing . Yellow under orange bucktail with Krystal flash on top. Tie to just a bit longer than under wing

Form a neat head, ensuring you tie and secure the bucktail tight.

Add Jungle cock eyes. Try to position these along the body as when the flie gets wet this improves the fly profile.

Complete Head

Add 3 coats of varnish to head

The completed fly. Now go and catch a salmon

Tight lines all
