I have been doing most of my fishing on loch Shin this year, it is a great venue.
I am amazed how lightly fished it is regarding trolling.
The one problem you have trolling is forget the downrigger because you will spend all day lifting and dropping as the depths change so much.
There are numerous large trout caught flat lineing and this is the way to go, you will allso be catching lots of small trout as it is stuffed with fish
I am learning every time i fish the place because of its huge size it will take me a while, there is one area i have been told where you gan use the downrigger as it maintains a good depth and i was informed this is where a lot of large fish have been caught in the past.
I have fished the Ness a couple of times this year and my only success was using
natural baits. I will be using them on Shin next week as i am going up for a week
i hope to have something to report when i come back
regards scott

Got back from Shin on Thursday the fishing was ok but nothing great my only large fish was a ferox of 12lb, black as the earl of hells waistcoat i had plenty smaller fish
I was fishing on my own so i did not use the downrigger as i reported the depths change so much my time would have been taken up raising and lowering the bloody thing
Still i enjoyed myself its good to get some days on yoiur own now and then, i would have stayed on but the weather was bloody terrible.
I am going to try some other venues next year if i can get access with the boat.
i dont care if i catch huge fish or not i just love the whole experience if i was dissapointed every time i dont catch a large trout i would have packed it in before now
I am hopeing to get some good pike fishing in soon and i heard my beat on the Don
is fishing well for salmon so i will get my but there soon
best regards to all scotty

Ive always fancied fishing loch Shin but i worked out its an 8hr drive towing a boat to get there Shocked Shocked so think i will stick to waters close at home.
It sounds an ideal place to fish though.
