PostSubject: fishing venues for next season   Fri Oct 23, 2009 5:36 pm

Have been looking at lochs for next season seen as the lochy is fecked and have decided i am going to have a season on the Awe.Have managed cheapish boat storage quite close to the loch and have heard good things about the fishing.Spoke to a guy who fishes mostly the ford end and he tells me they have had some good fish off the loch.Dont know if i will last the whole season as it can be pretty dour but will give it a bash.Anyone else got new venues planned for next season.

I have never fished the Oich, are there any big troots in it.Thats the loch that i have always bypassed on my way to garry or the quoich, never really gave the place a thought.Always seen it as a pike water,i am sure scotty park fishes it for the pike.

I would like to try some of the other areas of Lomond ,i tend to usually stay in the Endrick basin, i might try up the loch and the western side above Tarbert ,i have fished it in the past but not with downriggers etc.

I'd like to try soe of the more northern loch's such as Shin, Maree, Sionascaig, and Veyatie. Hard with no boat though as hire is a problem so they'll maybe need to wait until I get myself a boat.

Yeah would like a try on those lochs but it always seems to be the lochs you want to try are the farthest away Mad .One day trips to new lochs dont really tell you much,so at least 3 or 4 days fishing on a new loch is what you really need.If the opportunity were to arise i would certainly try them.

If i get access to the quoich from Basil i will be fishing there allso start fishing Arkaig again, And definately the Ness.
As regards oich its a very good pike venue but they dont allow trolling on the loch past the river Garry .There are big trout but very difficult to catch

The pellet fishers have ruined Lochy.
I'am going to concentate on Morar most of the season as access is not a problem and you are made welcome as long as you stick to the rules.
The Oich does have big trout as they have to be fit to avoid the massive pike.
As for The Awe I usually fish it 2 or 3 times a year and have tried the ford end with not much success but I have heard of big fish being caught. All my good fish have been taken down The Pass O Brander area so I would concentate my efforts in that area.As Kevin said The Awe can be dour as all lochs can be but now and again it can be one of the most productive.

there are boats available with engines for hire on sionascaig and veyatie. i don't think the controlling bodies would let you launch your own on either loch but it's always worth asking. the other problems are the lochs are supposed to be fly-fishing only but you may get permission to try other tactics if you're lucky. the positions of the hire boats are not always good - for example when we fly-fished Sionascaig in May this year, we had to walk about half a mile to the boat carrying all our gear and the full fuel tank for the motor! If anyone is interested, I can give details of the people to ask about the fishing on those 2 lochs.

The Proclaimers can add a new bit to there song .Quoich no more
My friend Mike phoned Basil today and enquired about booking in to Faulty Towers
on opening day next year and launching his boat ,
He was informed that no one will now be allowed to launch there own craft
The Hydro Board told Basil this is because of the dreadfull mess left on the banks by people who have the cheek to call themself fisherman.
But Mike was told if he paid75quid he could use the hotel boat , he is not going to bother. So with Lochy being fecked by the pellet pelters and Quoich being out of bound dose this mean more boats on openind day joining a large procession of ferox hunters going up the pass on Awe on openind day. It is an example of one more venue ruined by assholes and if any one of them should read this i would just like to wish you a merry syphlis and a clappy ghonerea
