can anyone recomend a loch with decent boats for hire as in something with a bit of shelter for when the weather turns , so far ive only realy fished loch awe with no ferox to show after about 16-17 days worth of trolling , its not funny anymore Sad
james you recomended lomond , where would be the best place to hire a boat there ?
can anyone else recomend anywhere as im told i would probably have more of a chance on anywhere rather than loch awe

cheers

You can hire boats from Mc Farlanes in Balmaha they are open wooden boats but there are plenty of places to run to for cover in the loch if it gets nasty, and the fishing places are simple just stay away from the shore and the areas the salmon trollers go, they fish in 8 to 12 ft of water, for ferox you want to be in 20ft + of water you can also pick up salmon there too.

cheers...james

Join loch Shin angling club 25quid for the year this lets you hire one of the boats for a tenner or twenty five with engine .
Getting good hire boats is a bit of a problem. I heard that stevensons on loch lochy may be hiring boats again i dont know if it is definate.
If you are willing to pay 75quid you can hire a boat on quoich and you have a better than average chance of getting a ferox if you fish hard

I have this problem too technotroller as a non boat owner and much of my trolling has been done on Awe with limited sucess.

I'm planning a trip in September and was looking for somewhere different. I ws up at Garry last year but the boat basil has on Garry is shocking. Unlike you, I do grudge paying his £75 to get out on quioh. I'm hoping he'll do me a del on a three day hire and intend to phone him soon and ask. Lochy boat hire would be good!!

£75 Just for boat hire Shocked Shocked i charge that for taking somone out trolling and for that they get the use of the boat and all tackle and lures and also a cooked lunch all you have to do is buy a permit and turn up.

I wonder if basil gets many takers at those prices Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Boat hire on lochy is a waste of time as the loch is now a shadow of its self due to extreme over fishing.Yes the kill all you catch boys have been on the loch since may every week killing every fish they catch. And they Have caught a lot.Not catching now though cos they feckin wiped the place out.Now theyll just move on to the next loch. Mad Disgusting.

Fergie spot on mate they were tied up at the cages fishing with pellets and killing everything. I heard there was one trout of 25lb killed ,what in the feck do you do with a 25lb trout eat it with chips or what
I feel sorry for the decent guys who spent a lot of money with boats and accomadation to fish lochy.
But you will allways get the guys with a vanity problem feeding there ego by killing everything and showing all there mates how great they are
as you say complete assholes

i seen some guys bebo page that was full of pictures of him with a good half a dozen double figure fish all lying on the bank dead , i raised the point that he should maybe try returning his fish and was told to F**k off , can anything realistic be done to protect these fish while still letting decent anglers still fish for them ?

The irish now have a law which only allows 1 specimen trout (10lb and over) to be taken per day.Its one to many but its a start.
Over here it seems if its not salmon its shite and not worth protecting.
