Why do very little of the posters on here do reports. Is it because they do not want to give away secret locations etc or do the posters on here just do not do a lot of fishing. There was one water i used to fish where i would not do reports on,this was mostly to keep the litter brigade and the kill every fish caught type from getting on.Dark mile ferox came across this also i think. A few guys who fish arkaig started a blog, they were going to do reports and the like but i think those spanned a couple of reports and then stopped.I was up on arkaig on thursday with the wife and the place was littered with rubbish.I wonder if a scottish rod license brought in up here would help,it could soon put an end to the litter louts, any litter left and your license is revoked, set lines unatended license revoked etc etc,no license no fishing. In my opinion anything to get the culprits off the waters would be worthwhile.

Kevin i can understand guys not wanting to post thier catches, you wouldnt want to have a good day then find the next time you go out fishing your favourite place has been trashed and most of the fish slaughtered, i know on some of the Pike fishing boards you are not allowed to even name a water never mind report your fishing on it.

I dont think a fishing license would make any difference all that would happen is the authoritys would take our money and do nothing to help fishing, in the States they have fish and game officers paid for by the license money these guys have the authority (and guns to back it up) to make sure you dont poach or break any laws, its extreme but it works.

I can see your point James in that you do not want to post on your favourite loch if its a wee diamond but most trollers fish on the big lochs,ie awe, arkaig, garry lochs that are easily acessible.A report on here of a couple of 8lb fish are not going to send the legions to these lochs. Its different for escaped rainbows when joe blogs can set up camp from the side and pull big rainbows out all day long,a bit more is required to pull out a big ferox(not saying the rainbow guys dont pull out the odd big brown). As for a policing of the lochs, why not. Most of the monies collected would be spent on the big waters in the form of a bailiff.I think after the first few prosecutions and fines that the majority would get the drift. As for the guns, have you seen what the fishermen have over there, shotguns, hand guns, rocket launchers, nukes lol! .I will start a new thread on the pro's and cons of a scottish rod license and see if we can get everyones comments.
