Arrived at the loch about 6.30 and had the boat in pretty quick with all the midges.Had to fish the shoreline till about 10 ish as it was like pea and ham soup, lucky if you could see 15 yds at times. After about 10 the sun burned the mist off and it was hot pale .We fished the middle section of the loch for most of the day but only had one trout about 2.5 lb to show for all our efforts. It was very bright so we concentrated mainly on the riggers but it did not make a lot of difference.Fortunately for us as much as the fishing was poor the weather was fantastic, hot sunshine then every now and again a nice cool breeze.I have not fished the Arkaig in the past much as i would like but will definately persevere with this loch.I was talking to a lad at the top of the loch who had beached his boat,he had more luck than us and he lifted a lovely fish out the boat to show us.Lots of boats moored on the loch but not a lot out fishing, only 4 boats out all day.Off on holiday just now bounce and going away for a few days with the wife,so no fishing this weekend Crying or Very sad but hope to be out in a fortnight, would like to give the Lomond a shot. Will post a report to let you know how i get on.

Hi Kev, from what you said, it sounds like the guy who showed you a fish had killed it. It's a shame if he had but it still happens occasionally. The fish need all the help they can get right now - our last trip to Windermere resulted in only one char from the downriggers (plus a few small pike and perch from flatlining the edges). I'm afraid English char fishing has had its day due to the lakes warming up and you should make the most of what you have up there before you start seeing the effects of global warming.

Yes you are right Phil the fish was killed.I dont have too much of a problem when someone kills a fish of a lifetime, its the kill all anglers that get to me,between them and global warming they will slowly bugger the fishing right up.
