Have been looking at lochs for next season seen as the lochy is fecked and have decided i am going to have a season on the Awe.Have managed cheapish boat storage quite close to the loch and have heard good things about the fishing.Spoke to a guy who fishes mostly the ford end and he tells me they have had some good fish off the loch.Dont know if i will last the whole season as it can be pretty dour but will give it a bash.Anyone else got new venues planned for next season.

Last season when i was heading down loch awe i noticed the cabins about a mile past donalds, think its 3 or 4 cabins with a slipway. Have always looked at these cabins but the price has always put me off.Was thinking if we could get a few of us together (6,7,8 people) it makes the fishing a lot cheaper.I am sure that they do weekend breaks for the first few weeks of season. If we could get a few names together i would book it for the start of season.Stick your name down or gives a pm.we only need ...

A lot of the trout we catch on Lomond have wound marks on them they are well healed wounds and look to me as if they might be Lamprey wounds as they are round marks that have a long area of skin that has no scale pattern on it , so when the fish has grown you can see the way the wound has healed up.

It is more unusual to get a decent sized trout that is untouched as i would say 8 out of 10 fish have some sort of scar on them.

Is this a Lomond thing or do Trout from other lochs show the ...

The one problem you have trolling is forget the downrigger because you will spend all day lifting and dropping as the depths change so much.

With most angling clubs now encouraging members to adopt a catch and release policy , is it actually going to drasticly improve fish stocks.

I was fishing the ythan estuary recently for sea trout and the keeper from whom i get my permit told me there were over 100 seals spotted at the mouth of the estuary

I heard of the damage one seal inflicted on the pike population of Lomond ,so just how much damage is now being done to migratory fish with hundreds of seals patrolling the estuarys.

I've read some reports that say camping is allowed anywhere on the north shore and some that say there are restrictions

I've never even seen the loch and will be turning up 'blind' so any info would be greatly appreciated.

I know you guys fish Lomond for trout, while very few pike anglers still do.
Are there any decent fish coming out these days? Even mid range fish?
We have had very little since that grey seal got in there in 2002. Even the better perch seemed to disappear.

I heard recently that a salmon troller got a 5 1/2lb perch. Made me think things might be improving.

I dont know if any other areas are experiencing this problem. I am a member of the loch of Skene pike angling in Aberdeen and the decline in the quality of pike fishing is un believable ,it is now a rarity to catch a double figure pike and if you do it has a wire trace stuck down its throat or injured through bad handling.

This loch used to be fantastic to fly fish for pike and it is a great way to catch and release without any undue stress to the fish.

It is easy to point the hand of blame ...

My view is that as one of scotlands biggest waters, scotland's deepest water and apparently one of the biggest char populations, it surely must have the potential for large and good numbers of ferox? It also appears to have little angling pressure.

However, it is rarely quoted as a ferox loch and I rarely hear people talk ...
