I just got a boat and do alot of towing so good points !

I don't think there could be anything bad about pumping to much grease, it will just come out somewhere ???

The average trailer bearing, it won't be sealed ???

The problem would be not having enough grease !

Does it matter which type of grease, will cheap multipurpose grease do or should it be silcone ???

Every trip might be over kill but it won't do any harm ???

Anyone with more experience ?

I just use ordinary grease and never had a problem. Kev i think there is a nut going around interfering with peoples nuts if we catch him we will string him up by the nuts

I have been using grease that I got from the local agricultural dealer. It seemed to do the business. Mind you I was putting grease in via the nipple after every trip!!!!!! However, I have just ordered some Morris K99 waterproof grease to give it a try. Might be able to get a few trip in before having to add more grease.

I had a wheel bearing go on me once and i went through the "that wont happen to me again" thing so i started pumping loads of grease in every now and again, i ended up just blowing the seals at the back of the wheel Embarassed so then i got the bearing savers and found they were quite good as it keeps the grease in contact with the bearings and i also now take the trailer up to my local garage and get him to check the bearings once a year so hopfully it should be ok now.

I have also had the loose nuts thing, driving up loch lomondside once the trailer wheel came off Shocked Shocked all the nuts had came off, god knows how that happened but now i check them all the time, it might be worthwhile getting some of those things you see on lorry whel nuts , they are wee green arrows that show you that the nuts are all still tightened they clip over the nuts and should all be lined up if the nuts are all tight.
