It was a lovely day today but i couldent get out to the river as it was in spate
Was going to go for pike but my mate phoned and said there was still some ice on the loch
So i decided to work on my boat i got my downrigger fitted on and non skidded the
deck greased the bearings and gave my engine a run just to get the mahogany all varnished now and im ready for the season ,it has been one hell of a long winter
but the grayling fishing and the odd pike day has kept me going.
Im on holiday this week and im heading out pike fishing tomorrow and on the river
Thursday if it runs off a bit
regards scotty

I always have the best of intentions at the end of the season to get ready for the next one but I've never managed it yet.
Have done a few jobs sorted out my fishing cupboard, tied a few flies no where near what I had hoped to tie, still got the tackle bag to sort out and a few new fly lines from last season to load. Problem I have is theres not enough hours in the day for my fishing and thats even before I consider work. Very Happy

spent a bit of time checking the trailer wheel bearings (yes i know we should have done them at the end of last season!) dismantled and drained out some water and re-greased them, luckily not much rust. one is showing too much play and we have decided to replace both bearings on that side. apart from the play, they look in good condition so I am going to put them into an old hub to keep as a "get us home ready-assembled spare". This will save us some pain and heartache removing the hub from the spare wheel mounting if we ever have a breakdown - it is bound to pissing down with rain if we do! the new bearings will only be about a tenner - money well spent I think!
good luck on the road chaps! Smile
