PostSubject: Adding stuff to the boat   Tue Dec 23, 2008 2:59 pm

Ihave my boat stored away in a garage this winter and now i have a solid cabin on it i hope to put a rocket launcher rod holder on the cabin top, i should have enough room to take 7 rods and the 2 end rod tubes can be used for the planer board rods, it will keep the rods out of the way and the line up high and clear from the water.
I have priced the parts for it and it will cost approx £60 for the metal now i just have to find someone who can weld aluminum and i can get started Smile Smile
Here is a pic of the sort of thing i want to try and do

that looks like the dog's wotsits James. looks like you might need to fit a lightning conductor as well! Laughing

When its welded, make sure the tubes have a drain hole at the bottom or they will fill up with water.

We have used an off-line board this year and the higher the mast the better. I reckon the line needs to be at least 5 feet above the water level at the boat (that was with a 15 -20 yard line). Took your advice and used a strimmer line - it worked well. We used an old Scarboro reel to wind it in. I have a bit of video of the rig somewhere, I will try to add it to utube and post a link here. may be a while as I'm in the process of getting a new computer. I am switching from a PC to a Mac so there will be a bit of a learning curve to deal with first.

Happy hogmany when it comes..............FF2

finally got around to it at last! after you watch this you will probably realise there is a lot to be said for on-line boards but they are not really suitable for charr fishing. Have a look at the other videos as well, especially Bill & Ben Play Football and B&B in a Spin you are bound to have a laugh! Laughing

Clik here for "Planer Boarding"..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gaYHpyCvaw

There is nothing wrong with killing a fish to eat, it is about time some of these morons got a life. At one time nearly everyone killed more fish than they could eat
myself included. But like yourself i just kill what i am going to eat now.

James
i have these lurking in my garage

Dimensions of the tubes are 1 1/4" I.D, 2" O.D
Length of pipe is 6" no bottom to them so you can fix them half way up yer boat and the rod butt will be on the ground.

Ally bar which they are attached to is 12" long by 1.5" deep pre-drilled and all edges have been reemed

i have two of these if you are interested??

i know you are looking for more holders but??

let me know, and we can come to some arrangement.

let me know if the pics come through
